Elbow Bush is a tough, fast-growing native shrub that delivers outstanding ecological value and a rugged, natural character well-suited to the untamed spirit of the Texas landscape. In late winter and early spring, its bare branches become dusted with tiny yellow flowers that are among the first blooms of the season and are a critical early nectar source for bees and other pollinators emerging from winter dormancy. Small, blue-black fruits follow in summer, eagerly consumed by mockingbirds, cedar waxwings, and other songbirds, while its dense, twiggy branching provides excellent nesting cover and wildlife shelter throughout the year.
