Anacua
Ehretia anacua
Anacua is a rugged, semi-evergreen native tree deeply rooted in the landscapes of South Texas and northeastern Mexico, where it is prized for its dense, rounded canopy and clusters of small, fragrant white flowers in spring. Small orange fruits follow the blooms, drawing mockingbirds, cedar waxwings, and other wildlife throughout the season. Its coarse, sandpaper-textured leaves and deeply furrowed bark give it a bold, distinctive character that stands out in any naturalistic or xeriscape planting.
