Bald Cypress

Taxodium distichum

Bald Cypress s a majestic, fast-growing native tree celebrated for its feathery, soft-textured foliage and spectacular fall display, when its fine needles turn a warm, cinnamon before dropping for the season. Over time, it develops fascinating woody projections known as knees that emerge from the root system and rise dramatically from the ground, a uniquely striking feature that adds extraordinary character and conversation to any landscape. Despite its reputation as a swamp tree, it can tolerate somewhat dry upland soils once established, and capable of reaching 50–70 feet tall, it develops a stately, pyramidal form that becomes one of the most impressive specimens in any large landscape.
