Chitalpa
Chitalpa chitalpa
Chitalpa is a vigorous, fast-growing hybrid tree that combines the best qualities of its parent species, the large, showy trumpet-shaped flowers of Catalpa with the drought and heat tolerance of Desert Willow. Blooming profusely from late spring through summer in shades of white, pink, or lavender, it provides one of the longest and most colorful flowering seasons of any medium-sized tree. Growing 20–30 feet tall with an attractive, rounded form, it is an outstanding choice for hot, dry landscapes where reliable color and low water demands are equally important.
