Grey Oak

Quercus grisea

Grey Oak is a slow-growing, semi-evergreen native oak of the desert mountains and limestone ranges of West Texas, New Mexico, and northern Mexico, where it forms an important component of the piñon-juniper woodland ecosystem. Its small, stiff leaves in a distinctive grey-green to blue-grey color give it a refined, silvery appearance well-suited to dry, naturalistic plantings. Deeply adapted to rocky, well-drained soils and intense heat, this long-lived tree develops a sturdy, character-rich form that brings authentic Chihuahuan Desert spirit to the landscape.
