Post Oak is a slow-growing, long-lived native oak immediately recognized by its distinctive cross-shaped leaves, broadly lobed in a pattern unlike any other oak in the region. A defining species of the Texas Cross Timbers and Post Oak Savanna, it develops a sturdy, broad-spreading canopy of real character and presence over time. Highly adapted to the sandy, well-drained soils of its native range, it produces abundant acorns that sustain deer, turkey, and countless other wildlife species, anchoring the ecological health of the communities it inhabits.
