Purpletop is a graceful, clump-forming native bunchgrass that brings airy movement and late-season color to prairie plantings, meadow gardens, and naturalized borders across Texas. Growing 3 to 5 feet tall, its fine-textured blue-green blades rise into delicate, open seed panicles each fall, glowing a deep wine-purple in the afternoon light before maturing to a soft tan that persists through winter.
