Red Buckeye is a charming, small native tree that brings a burst of early color to the landscape with its showy clusters of tubular red flowers in spring, arriving just in time to welcome the first hummingbirds of the season. Typically reaching 15–20 feet tall, it features bold, palmately compound leaves that lend a lush, tropical feel to shaded garden settings. Native to the woodlands of the South and Central Texas, it performs beautifully as an understory tree in filtered light and moist, well-drained soils.
